T.S.Jairaj is one of the most talented singers in Kerala. In addition, he has demonstrated his abilities as a Music Director, Anchor, Lyricist, and Teacher. He has been involved in the Music industry for about 40 years and has a large following. He graduated in Ganabhooshanam from Sree Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram, and possesses proficiency in Vocals, Veena, Mridangam, Tabla, Guitar, Keyboard, and Harmonium.
Born in 1976, he is a native of Punalur, Kollam (District), Kerala. He completed his schooling at Chemmanthoor HS and LPGS Punalur. He had successfully completed the Chennai-based Indian technical examination for music in both the lower and higher grades.
He was exposed to music at a younger age since he was born into a family with a strong musical tradition. His father, Mr. S. R. Thyagarajan, is a retired Music Teacher, Music Director, and Carnatic Musician. The nation's first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, presented Mr. S. R. Thyagarajan with the National Award for Carnatic Music (Citation, Gold Medal, National Badge) in Delhi in 1957. His mother, Mrs. R. Shylaja Thyagarajan, is a retired Music Teacher who has worked as a Singer, Veena artist, Dubbing Artist, and an Actor in All India Radio and Doordarshan,Thiruvananthapuram.
The late Mrs. Lakshmikutty Bhagavathar and the late Mr. Attingal N. Ramaswami Bhagavathar, who served as the first Music Director for KPAC (Kerala Peoples Arts Club), are the grandparents of T. S. Jairaj. Mr. R. S. Vijayakumar, a famous Violinist, and the late Mr. Kalanjoor Ramakrishna Pillai, a Writer, are among his close relatives. Attingal Nanu Bhagavatar was a Temple Artist circa 1901 and the great-grandfather of T. S. Jairaj.
Vaikom Sreelakshmi, the spouse of T. S. Jairaj, is a Writer actively involved in Malayalam Literature. J. S. Sravan Ram, J. S. Karthik Ram, and Avanthika Jairaj are his children.
