K.P.A.C (Kerala Peoples Arts Club) first Meeting was held in Kalakshethra at Punalur, under the guidance of Adv. N. Rajagopalan Nair and Poet Punalur Balan.

SRI ATTINGAL RAMASWAMY BHAGAVATHAR started Punalur Sangeetha Sabha.

Sree Thyagaraja Smaraka Sangeetha Kalalayam (STSS KALALAYAM) - After the death of SMT LEKSHMIKUTTY BHAGAVATHAR, her son SRI S. R. THYAGARAJAN took responsibility for the institute. As a student, he has shown good performances in the field of art. He got a chance to sing Keerthana’s in front of the first prime minister Sri. Jawaharlal Nehru and first president Dr. Rajendra Presad. Sri. S. R. Thyagarajan got first prize in that item, in which artists from all over the states of India participated. This becomes big news in media and that time Chief Minister Sri. E.M.S. Namboodiripad and Education Minister Sri. Joseph Mundaserry visited his home. This incident became a part of Malayalam Text with the help of the Education Department. After that, SREE THYAGARAJA SMARAKA SANGEETHA KALALAYAM (SREE THYAGARAJA MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOOL) was renamed to SREE THYAGARAJA SCHOOL OF MUSIC

In 2002, SREE THYAGARAJA SCHOOL OF MUSIC & DANCE got the central govt. affiliation with registration no. F.No.7/13-2002, recognized by central 'Sangeet Natak Akademi', in NewDelhi.
