SRI. RAMASWAMI BHAGAVATHAR (Born:1907 - Died:1959)
FOUNDER, MUSIC DIRECTOR, SINGER, HARMONIUM ARTIST, DRAWING TEACHER

Music education has always been an important part of my life. I began Sree Thyagaraja School of Music & Dance in order to bring a higher quality of education to our students. I believe our teachers can offer you more as they are part of our network which shares resources and teaching methods. It is not just that we teach well, but how we teach. In recent years the Department of education has emphasized the inclusion of literacy and numeracy in all aspects of education. We believe our lessons should be no different.

The staff is deeply committed to the concept that music education is a fundamental right and an essential foundation for intellectual, spiritual, and emotional growth. We believe in the power of music to transcend linguistic, economic, cultural, and intellectual barriers and envision a local-to-global music community in which all people, genres, cultures, instruments, and sounds are in a state of dynamic collaboration and learning. Ultimately music is a language and should be taught as such. We believe strongly in ‘Sound Before Symbol', the principle that, as with language, you learn to listen and speak before reading and writing. As such music is best learned by playing and interacting, with score reading following. Our Mission is to educate, train, and prepare students to excel at music, which reflects the diversity of expression and opportunities that define today's music industry.
